Under 18 And Want To Help?
We always welcome youth participation in our fundraising activities listed at the bottom of this page. We also have a limited number of volunteer positions for those under 18.
Ages 15+
Teen Volunteers
Those 15 and older (14+ with a parent present) are eligible for cat care, enrichment, and occasional cleaning shifts. These spots are limited and fill quickly. A minimum 6-month time commitment is required.
Per our insurance policy, volunteers must be at least 18 years of age to work with shelter dogs.
All Ages
Shelter Tours
Learn what an animal shelter does and meet adoptable cats, dogs, and small animals waiting for homes. Tours include a take-home activity — complete it and mail it back to earn a Homeless Animal Hero certificate. Great for Scouts, clubs, and groups of all kinds.
Ages 13–18
Fundraising Interns
Have a creative idea for a fundraiser or project to benefit the shelter? Pitch it to us, we'll support you every step of the way. Interns can raise money, goods, or awareness for the shelter or one of its programs. Optional: attend a virtual Fundraising Committee meeting or help table SAS events.
